The Problem:
- Many rural Honduran families are forced to collect their drinking water from contaminated streams and rivers. This water is not safe to drink due to high levels of bacteria & parasites.
- A Honduran child under the age of 5 has 18.6 episodesof diarrhea per year.
- During the 2019 John Carroll University medical brigade, 79% olf children under the age of thirteen presented with a GI complaint.
- Over 1 million children living in Honduras are treated for parasites each year.
- 40% of Honduran children suffer from anemia which is caused by unclean drinking water and malnutrition.
The Solution:
- A Sawyer International filter cleans over 150 gallons of water per day to U.S. drinking standards. The filters may last up to 10 years if properly maintained by backflushing daily with a syringe of clean water.
